The song “nokalletto” from the soon-to-be-released film Choran directed by Santo Anthikad has gone viral on social media. In the past few days, it has crossed more than 2.1 million views on YouTube. One of attractions of the song is that each of its lines ends with the Malayalam sound “tto” which strikes a chord with the Malayali audience as it’s too colloquial an expression bringing in that intimacy which has been missing in most of the recent songs. Folkloric lyrics, trendy composition and arresting visuals too have helped the song climb charts
Dr. Praveen Rana who plays the protagonist in this suspense thriller in which Sinoj Angamaly and Remya Panikar can be seen playing other lead characters.
The plot of the film revolves around a thief who involuntarily ends up somewhere and witnesses huge injustice.
Engadiyoor Chandrashekar who gained popularity as the lyricist of many of the late Kalabhavan Mani’s folk numbers has penned the lyrics for the song. Newcomer Anthony Dasan has done the vocals for this heart touching song with his unique nasal voice relatively unknown to the Malayalam music scene. The music of “nokalletto” is done by 4 Musics , the same team which did the movie’s background score. Dr. Praveen Rana has led the team as its music mentor for this song.
The cinematography is handled by Suresh Babu while the choreographer is by Bhavil Mumbai.
