CHENNAI : Tamil Superstar Vijay continues to be grilled by Income Tax sleuths over alleged tax evasions. He was brought home by tax home from his shooting location at Kadloor where his questioning has run into 17 hours so far.

The actor is cooperative with the officials at his residence, Asst Commissioner of Income Tax told a newspaper.  Vijay was taken into custody in  follow-up of the raids conducted at offices of producers to his last released film Beagle.  The taxmen believe that Vijay accepted crores or rupees  in payment, with absolutely no records at Beagle producers’  Aegis Entertainment  offices.

I-T department continues to raid Aegis Entertainment offices located in several parts of the city. Apart from Vijay’s residence in Chennai, the sleuths also carried out raids at his houses in Maudhurai and Saligram. Officials reportedly unearthed Rs 40 crore from Vijay’s  Chennai home and Rs 17 crore from his Maudhurai residence. The figures will be released once the raids conclude, they said.

Vijay’s film Mersal had shots criticizing GST. Following the release, BJP’s national leaders came down heavily with their criticism on the star to the extent of taunts with communal tinge calling  him Vijay Joseph.  It became fairly known that the movie scenes critical of GST had enraged BJP seniors.

Now there are also critics who read together the ending of Income Tax case against mega star Rajinikanth and his open support of CAA shortly thereafter, along with raids unleashed on Vijay. Besides, the two  exercises developments are paced in a short time gap of one another.
