KOCHI : CBI ruled out foul play in the sudden death of actor Kalabhavan Mani three years ago, citing Child C Cirrhosis assessment that pointed to acute cirrhosis of his liver.
Trace amounts of methane alcohol found in blood sample was not lethal, says the report. The probe agency filed its 35 page with CBI court in Ernakulam on Monday.
Kalabhavan Mani died on 6 March, 2016. CBI took over the investigations following widespread suspicion of poisoning, given that a laboratory test turned up presence of pesticide in the actor’s blood.
The toxin present in Mani’s stomach originated from alcohol, says the report. With liver dysfunctional, the unprocessed alcohol passed into the system, leading to death, it added.
The conclusion relies on report prepared by doctors at JIPMER in Pondicherry, where the toxins found during postmortem were sent for chemical analysis and toxicology tests.
