Kozhikode : Veteran Malayalam actor Mamukoya has died on exact day, one month from demise of late Innocent who passed away on 26th April. Mamukoya, who was being treated at a private hospital following cardiac arrest passed away this noon.
Mamukoya started his career in theatre, before debuting in Malayalam film, Anyarude Bhoomi in 1979. Mamukoya pppularised Mapllila dialect of Malabar with an inimitable style. His toothy grin and rustic looks struck a chord with larger public. Mamukoya acted in over 450 movies during his 5-decade stint in cinema.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan condoled the actor’s death saying “Mamukoya’s death is a big loss to the state and film world”. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Opposition Leader VD Satheesan were among others offering condolences, apart from fans and popular film personalities.
Mamukoya is survived by his wife Subra and their four children.
