NEW DELHI : The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has disclosed the names of 30 major willful defaulters, in its response to an RTI filed by The Wire early this year.
Three companies listed belong to fugitive businessman Mehul Chokshi.
Popular names include Gitanjali Gems, Deccan Chronicle Holdings, Rotomac Global, Zoom Developers, Winsome Diamonds, REI Agro, Siddhi Vinayak Logistics and Kudos Chemie These companies also have histories of cases pending from CBI or Enforcement Directorate raids.
The list is drawn from Central Repository of Information on Large Credits (CRILC) which is a centralized banking database.
The govt this year allowed banks the option to list borrowers as willful defaulters.
