Vanijya Utsav to commence on Monday; Weeklong programmes to promote trade and export

Kochi, September 18: As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, Department of Commerce under Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt of India is celebrating ‘Vanijya Saptah’ during 20- 26 September 2021 across the country to highlight India’s potential for trade and exports.  In unison with the celebrations, a series of events focusing on economic growth and promotion of exports are organized during the week jointly by the Department of Commerce, Govt. of India; Government of Kerala; Spices Board; Directorate of Foreign Trade; Confederation of Indian Industry; and the Districts as Export Hubs.

A dual day commercial conference with the theme ‘India as the Rising Economic Force: Focus -Kerala’ will be held in Kochi on 21st and 22nd September at the Taj Gateway Hotel in Marine Drive, Ernakulam. Shri Som Parkash, the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry will inaugurate the conference on 21st September and Shri Hibi Eden, the hon’ble member of parliament from Ernakulam will be the guest of honour during the inaugural ceremony. The event will be attended & represented by heads of commerce and industries departments under the central and state governments, and by leaders from the industry and private sector as well as who's who of the export industry.

Exporters’ and industry leaders’ conclave will be organized at Mascot Hotel in Trivandrum on 24th September. Shri V Muraleedharan, Hon’ble Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs will inaugurate the conclave. Shri P Rajeeve, Hon’ble Minister for Industries and Commerce, Govt of Kerala and Shri M B Rajesh, Speaker, Kerala Legislative Assembly are the guests of honour during the conclave. The conclave will discuss topics related to navigating a transitional global environment and the opportunities for entrepreneurs from Kerala.

“The series of programmes being organized as part of Vanijya Utsav will discuss, debate and present many unique concepts and ideas to help boost the trade” said Shri D. Sathiyan IFS, Secretary, Spices Board. “Spices Board is also organizing similar events in association with the government of Sikkim in the northeast” he added.
