KOCHI :  In a slight deviation to its earlier stand, the Muthoot management said the 166 employees sacked earlier would not be reinstated into branches within Kerala. In the reconciliation talks held in Kochi, the management representatives also clarified they would not open the branches shut down following employees unrest. In response, the Employees Union maintained that ongoing strike would continue until the fired employees were restored to their original offices of work.

The talks were mediated by negotiator appointed by the High Court. He urged the management to take initiative  for ending the prolonged work strike and the Labour Commissioner asked Muthoot to submit new directives towards resolving the situation.

Until now, the management had categorically refused to take back its  terminated employees and the staff  union responded with a firm ‘no; to end their strike. Following the tie, Muthoot veered a bit on its stand now saying the employees could not be re-inducted inside the State.

The indefinite strike, now nine-day old, will continue.; Muthoot units cannot run smooth without resolving the issue, stated Non-banking And Private Finance Employees Association (CITU).

CITU State General Secretary and MP Elamaram Kareem, All-India Secretary K Chandran Pillai and  State Secretary KN Gopinath and Muthoot Finance Unit State President Swaraj spoke  in representation of the employees’ union.
