Thiruvananthapuram : Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday inaugurated 102 new family health centres across the districts via virtual ceremony online .
The new family centres have been upgraded to their new status from former primary health centres after effecting phenomenal improvisations, as part of the government’s Ardram scheme under Nava Kerala Karma Mission.
In the first phase, 170 primary health centres were picked up and transformed into full-fledged Family Health Centres. Another 504 were selected for similar renovations-cum-conversion in the second phase. Of these, construction works at 164 centres have been completed while it is ongoing at the remaining centres. The 102 family health centres inaugurated today are among those where works were completed during the second phase.
The new Family Health Centres under Ardram scheme aim to provide the public with quality and patient-friendly heathcare facility at regional level itself. These centres have been bolstered with support from various grama panchayats and their timings extended to 6 pm with more doctors and paramedics appointed for the purpose.
The new centres bring to the public, clinics for lifestyle disorders, exam rooms with privacy, standardized treatment, pre-checkup by nurses before seeing the doctor and patient-friendly atmosphere, closer home. Also attached to these centres are, Breath Clinic for asthma and other respiratory disorders, Solace Clinic for mental illnesses, mental health programmes at field level and sub-clinics functioning post noon.
