Thiruvananthapuram : The LDF government’s new cabinet will comprise 21 ministers, said LDF Convener Vijayaraghavan Monday, adding that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will decide on individual portfolios. LDF has returned to power a second time with support from all segments, hence the government to be formed will be one that’s designed to ensure welfare of every section of the society, said Vijayaraghavan.
The party-wise ministerial posts would be as follows: CPI(M) - 12; CPI -4; Kerala Congress M - 1; Janata Dal (S) - 1; NCP - 1. Among allies, 2 candidates will be ministers for 2 years and get replaced by 2 from other parties during the length of the government. Candidates from Democratic Kerala congress and INLU will become ministers in the first 2 years and make way for MLAs from 1st phase Kerala Congress(B) and Congress(S) in the subsequent years.
Speaker post will be held by CPI(M) and Deputy Speaker will come from CPI. Kerala Congress will offer the Chief Whip candidate.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held 20th May with minimal persons in attendance. A parliamentary meeting of the party will be held to elect the new Legislative Party Leader following which the Governor will be consulted with regard to the oath-taking event, said CM.
Antony Raju from Democratic kerala Congress and INLU’s Muhammad Devarkovilam will become ministers in the first two years of the govt tenure followed by Ganesh Kumar from Kerala Congress(B) and Kadanapally Ramachadran from Congress(S) for rest of the term.
