Kozhikode : Tests results from Puducherry Virology Lab confirmed the 3-and-half-year-old boy hospitalised in Kozhikode as having amoebic encephalitis. The doctors said the child was responding well to medicines and has been now shifted from Pariyaram Medical College Hospital to a private facility in Kozhikode.

The child developed fever after bathing in waterfall and was diagnosed with symptoms akin to amoebic brain fever at Pariyaram Medical College. He was then admitted to a private hospital in Kozhikode and test samples sent to Puducherry virology lab.

Another toddler, a 4-year-old boy from Kozhikode too is under treatment for similar infection. Both are being administered medicines from Germany.
