76 More Omicron Cases Recorded In State:Tally Climbs To 421

Thiruvananthapuram : The state recorded 76 more cases of Omicron variant climbing the tally so far to 421. New case split districtwise Is : Thrissur 15;  Pathanamthitta 13;  Alappuzha 8;  Kannur 8;  Thiruvananthapuram 6;  Kottayam 6;  Malappuram 6;  Kollam 5;  Kozhikode 4;  Kasaragod 2;  Ernakulam 1;  Wayanad 1.

Among fresh cases, 1 person came from Tamil Nadu, 59 are arrivals from low-risk countries while 7 came from high-risk countries and 9 contracted the variant via contact. Districtwise break-up for contact cases is : Thrissur 3 and 2 each from Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam. Omicron cluster has been identified at a private nursing home in Pathanamthitta. The spread is suspected to have originated from an international arrival that passed the virus among students.


Districtwise  breakup for overseas arrivals that tested positive for Omicron is  : Thrissur - UAE 9,  Qatar 2,  Germany 1,  Pathanamthitta – UAE 5,  Qatar 1,  Kuwait 1,  Ireland 2,  Sweden 1,   Alappuzha – UAE 3,  Saudi Arabia 2,  Qatar 1; Kannur – UAE 7,  Qatar 1; Thiruvananthapuram – UAE 3,  UK 2,  Qatar 1; Kottayam – UAE 3,  UK 1,  UAE 6; Kollam – UAE 4,  Qatar 1; Kozhikode – UAE 4,  Kasaragod 2,  UAE 2; Ernakulam – Qatar 1; Wayanad – UAE 1.
