Budget 2021: 8 Lakh Job Opportunities; Public Welfare Projects: Read Key Highlights Here

Thiruvanananthapuram : Loaded with public welfare schemes,  Finance Minister Dr. TM Thomas Isaac presented government budget for 2021 -22 in the Assembly. The budget speech commenced 9 am morning. The current budget is the 6th of ithe ncumbent LDF government and Thomas Isaac’s 12th.

Major Highlights
► 8 lakh jobs will be generated- 5 lakh for the educated and 3 lakh for others
►  Social welfare pension has been upped to Rs 1600 per month. Will take effect from April
►  4,000 posts to be created in the health sector
►  KIIFB projects to the tune of 15,000 crore rupees will be completed
►  Paddy procurement rate will be raised to Rs 28. Base price for rubber to be upped
►  KIIFB Rejuvenation Project Rs 60,000 crore
►  Procurement rate for coconut  to be raised to Rs 32
►  The Budget is designed to rejuvenate post-covid Kerala, the minister said, adding that, there will be no hike in taxes
►  Women professionals will be give short-duration training and inducted into jobs
►IKFC, KSDE and Kerala Bank will provide loans under work-from-home scheme
►Scheme will commence to provide  total of 20 lakh people with jobs on digital platforms
►Information on professional volunteers  and those completing training will be made available on digital platforms.
►Companies will be allowed options to recruit employees in centralised or decentralized manner
►Laptop will be ensured at all homes
►KFON project will be completed by July
►One-lakh-rupee fellowship will be granted to attract young scientists
►Rs 56 crore for expansion of infrastructure at government colleges
►KIIFB will provide funds for setting up of 30 autonomous universities in the state

►Rs 52 core for handloom sector
► 3 lakh more people to be gainfully employed under Employment Guarantee Scheme
► Rs 4 crore for handicraft sector; Rs 5 core for Bamboo corporation; Rs 5 crore for cottage industries
► Welfare fund as part of employment guarantee scheme to begin from February
► Rs 100 crore toward integrated employment for expats
► Rs 112 crore for Coir department
► 3 types of action plan for agricultural development
► 2 lakh employment opportunities in agricultural sector
► Goal to transform Kerala into barren-free land
► Will commence Kerala Tourism Workers Welfare Board

► Coffee Park for Wayanad
► 1.5 Lakh more houses under LIDE Mission. Those without home or land will be provided houses in this phase.
► Rs 320 crore for welfare of differently-abled persons
► Free-of-cost treatment for road accident victims in the first 48 hours.
► OP at Health Centre post noon from now on
► Works toward Kochi Cancer Centre to be complete this years. Rs 71 crore allocated for Regional Cancer Centre; Rs 25 crore for Malabar Cancer Centre
► Honorarium for Asha workers upped by Rs 1000 pm
►3000 eco-friendly buses for KSRTC
► 50 percent tax reduction for electrical vehicles
►Insurance cover for KSFE chit funds.KFC to be re-set
►Crimes against women to be brought down. Will introduce crime mapping; Vigil committees to be empowered; Rs 20 crore to Kudumbasree for this purpose
► Rs 5000 crore for benefit of fish workers
►Rs 5 crore toward Rainbow project for transgenders
