Thiruvananthapuram : The 8th Session of 15 Kerala Assemble will commence on Monday, 23rd Jan. The Session begins with the Governor’s policy announcement speech at 9 am. The Budget for the next financial year will be presented, passed in the upcoming Session, the Speaker AN Shamseer informed in a press conference in the capital. The House will meet for 33 days and conclude on 30th of March.
A debate on Motion of Thanks on the Governor's speech shall be held on the 25th and later on 1st and 2nd February. The Budget shall be presented on the 3rd. A general debate on the Budget shall take place from 6 to 8 Starting 13th February the Subject Committees will scrutinise funding requests submitted. After this, starting 28th Feb to 22nd March discussions shall held for 13 days on the funding requests. 2 Appropriation Bills will eventually be passed.
Fielding a media question the Speaker said he expected full cooperation from the Opposition with regard to passing of Budget. All Bills passed must be signed by the Governor. The government is holding conversations with the Governor, the Speaker told reporters. Assembly Secretary AM Basheer was also present at the press meet.
