Kottayam :  With date closing in for finalizing the list of DCC president probables, string-pulling is rife in leader circles of state Congress.  Although High Command will take the final call on  appointments, it is the Groups' wieghtage on various leaders that finally decides who makes it to the chair.  Topping Oomen Chandy’s list in last couple of days  are  DCC Vice President Philson Mathews, Office acting General Secretary Sujin Thomas.

In ways more than one, Oomen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala had expressed resentment on the manner in which High Command appointed the state Opposition leader and KPCC President. That done,  the High Command now lacks steam to totally ignore the duo and effect appointments one more time. Meanwhile, leaders in a dozen have flocked around Oomen Chandy vying for the post, leaving him to wonder who among these should be adopted and who abandoned. Nevertheless, Oomen Chandy will use the opportunity to make it amply clear that whoever selected owes the luck to his mercy.

Topping Ramesh Chennithala’s list of nominees  is INTUC District President Philip Josephine. With no particular function on hand, Joseph Vazhakal  also appears as a probable on Chennithala list. Former DCC presidents Adv Tomi Kallani and KC Joseph are also eyeing way to the chair. Incidentally, all groups have  hinted the   overage setback pertaining to KC, whose only qualification is his identity as Oomen Chandy’s confidante. And, entering the fray is Kallani  pitching high for his master  VM Sudheeran, who in his words, performed outstandingly even by national standards during his stint as the state president. Also named in the lists are UDF District Convener Josy Sebastian, KPCC secretary Nadkam Suresh and Thomas Kalladan, who lost his District President post owing to INTUC split.
