32 More Cases Confirmed; 17 Are Travelers From Abroad : CM Updates Media

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : 32 fresh cases were confirmed in the day, of which 17 are people who arrived from abroad, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters  during evening brief on Monday.

The district-wise breakup is : 17 Kasaragod; Kannur 11 Idukki 2 ;Wayanad 2. With this, the tally for active Covid cases in Kerala rises  to 213. 1,57,253 people have been quarantined in the State of whom, 1,56,660 remain in their homes and 623 in various hospitals. 126 persons were admitted newly to the hospital Monday. Samples from 6991 persons were sent for testing. Efforts are on to set up Rapid Test system to obtain results faster, said CM.

In view of lockdown conditions, PSC extended its rank list expiry to 3 months further from 20.03.2020. Armed Police  ADGP has been put in charge to oversee wellbeing of cops on duty from law and order. SMS on safe inspection practices are being sent to policemen on daily basis.

From a total of 1034 local self bodies, community kitchens have opened in 1031 premises. There are 1,213 community kitchens operational across the State. 1,54,258 people were served meals yesterday of whom, 1,37.930 got their food free-of-cost.

Community kitchens are essentially for the needy. There should be caution exercised in this regard. Several people are willing to pay for their meals. Community Kitchen however is not the appropriate avenue for them. There are 1000 newly opened hotels in the State selling affordable meals. These outlets will also make door-step deliveries for payers. Workers engaged in these hotels on contract basis are free to trip to banks or offices to collect their wages.

Adivasis living  in the forests sell produce from deep woods for livelihood. The govt will make arrangements to help them sell their forest produce, CM said concluding the day’s update.
