Kottarakara : In his first ever trip to Kottarakkara after the brutal killing of 23-year-old doctor Vandana Das, the assailant Sandeep was brought to the Magistrate Court at 11 am, Tuesday amid heavy security. The proceedings lasted oen hour and the accused maintained a calm demeanor all through.
Meanwhile, a chronic defender of deadly culprits in sensational case, Adv Aloor met with Sandeep and secured his signature on Vakalatnama for formal taking up of his defense. Aloor had earlier asked for meeting Sandeep. However he was put off saying, Sandeep would be produced in the court and could be contacted there.
Several lawyers and Democratic Women’s Assoc workers raised slogans outside the court building, slamming Aloor for standing defense in a murder case that sent shockwaves through the community .
The Case :
On 10th of May, the 23-year-old House Surgeon, Dr. Vandana Das, fell victim to brutal slaying at hands of a school teacher who was brought into the hospital for treatment. The assailant, Sandeep, was laid on the dressing table inside the Procedure room, when he suddenly got up and started to stab people around with a clinical knife he picked up from the room. While people scrambled to save themselves, Dr. Vandana walked into the commotion and froze at sight of the violence. The assailant turned his twisted fury on her, stabbing Vandana multiple times in the neck and back. She succumbed to death shortly after at a private hospital in the capital.
