Alappuzha : The Agriculture Officer, arrested in Alappuzha in connection with counterfeit currency case, has been suspended from service. The tainted employee is : Agri Officer M Jishamol, attached to Edava office.
The incident came to light when manager at Federal Bank of Convent Junction branch felt suspicious of seven 500-rupee notes that a merchant, known to Jishamol, brought into the bank. Police would later find that the notes were given to him by the handyman working for Jishamol. The police raided Jishamol’s rented house in Kalankal and arrested her.
Police believe there are more people involved. Investigations are underway to trace others and printing source.
