Thiruvananthapuram : Accusation that Health Minister Veena George’s Personal Staff Akhil Mathew accepted bribe, is falling to pieces. On 10th of April 2023 - the day Akhil is alleged to have taken bribe - he was away at Pathanamthitta attending a marriage ceremony from 2:30 pm on.
In the complaint, a Malappuram native Basid said he paid cash as bribe to Akhil Mathew at Thycaud in Thiruvananthapuram on 10th of last April. Whereas, evidence now shows that Akhil Mathew was attending a wedding of Pathanamthtta Elanthur EMS Co-op Hospital Secretar Alan Mathe Thomas and High Court Advocate Christina P George, at that time.
The ceremony was venued at Shalom Marathoma Church in Pathanamthitta’s Mylapra and rituals began at 4 pm. A banquet followed at Mylapra’s Pallipadi Sam Auditorium and Akhil took part in both the functions. The photos and video of Akhil’s presence through the day is now out - proof that the alleged bribery never took place.
What likely happened is, somebody impostoring as Akhil Mathew defrauded the complainant from Malappuram. Akhil Mathew filed his own complaint with Cantonment Police, investigations of which are in progress.
