Abhimanyu Murder: Sajith Sajeev A RSS Worker; Pictures Showing Training Camp Participation Out

Alappuzha :  Amid RSS denials on its links to  Abhimanyu murder in Vallikunnam, pictures have surfaced on social media showing the main suspect, Sajith Sajeev, in   attendance  at RSS training  camp.

The pictures highlighting  alleged killer’s  links with RSS comes even as media is trying hard  to shield Sangh Parivar involvement in the murder.

Answering reporters' queries,  Abhimanyu’s father, Ambili Kumar,   clarified they were a CPI(M) family and that his  slain son was an active SFI worker. RSS workers threatened the family several times, he said. RSS workers in the area once wrecked the family vehicle and attacked their home following which, a complaint was lodged with police.  This infuriated the RSS  and Abhimanu’s murder is in retaliation,  said Ambili Kumar.

Older son Ananthu is a DYFI worker. The

"Reporters  asked if son Abhimanu was a political activist to which I said - No he was a SFI worker,’ said Ambili Kumar.  The slain class X student’s grandfather said, “We are traditionally a communist family and my  grandson Abhimanyu was a SFI worker.”

The Gruesome Killing
The murder that send shockwaves through the community  took place on night of Vishu, Wednesday 9.30 pm at Padanivattom, Vallikunnam.   The four-member gang stabbed Abhimanyu on the ground east of the temple, where festivities  were on.  The fatal stab to left side of Abhimany’s  stomach was 4 cm long  and the gash inside very deep.

Post the murder, people recalled seeing a group of RSS men roaming around the temple earlier. According to witness accounts, these men hid  deadly weapons behind some shops in the area. Police said, hours before the murder, they had several callers asking if there was any  untoward incident in vicinity of the temple in the day. There are also reports suggesting   some KAPA-charged criminals with RSS links  were present in the area around the time.

Police have intensified probe. No arrests so far, said police, adding that, though it was one person who inflicted the fatal stab, the assailant gang comprised at least 4 to 5 people. Police have also reportedly received important tips on the culprits from RSS.

The probe team headed by Alappuzha Police Chief G Jayadev comprises Chengannur  DySP R Jose, Additional SP Nazeem,  Mavelikkara CI Mithun, Aryanad CI Shibu Kumar, Kurathikode CI Sabu, VeEnamani CI Shihabuddin and  Chengannur CI Biju Kumar. The investigations are also being assisted by shadow police and cyber cell teams.
