All govt colleges will get NAAC tag, says Kerala CM

Thiruvananthapuram > Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday said that steps will be taken to ensure NAAC accreditation for all government colleges in the state. Mr Vijayan was inaugurating the distribution of  the first phase of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) aid to 104 aided and five autonomous college in the state at a function in Mar Ivanios College here on Tuesday.

Mr Vijayan said that only institutions with quality received RUSA aid. Of the 13 universities in the state only six had NAAC accreditation. Efforts will be taken to improve the grade of colleges which already had accreditation, said Mr Vijayan.

Higher education minister K.T. Jaleel, who presided over the function, said that 1,200 teaching and 250 non-teaching staff posts will be created in aided colleges in two years. The aid for autonomous colleges are Rs five crore each with 60 percent from central government funds and 40 percent from state funds.
