Thiruvananthapuram : With 212 more Primary Health Centres(PHCs) upscaled to become Family Health Centres(FHCs) under phase-3 of state’s Ardram Mission, all of the state’s PHCs now stand transformed to Family Health Centres.
In the first phase of Ardram project, 170 PHCs and 503 in the second phase were converted to Family Health Centres. Of these, 461 have commenced functioning full-fledged in their upgraded form and the rest are nearly ready to follow suit.
The Transformation
Primary Health Centres typically remained open up to noon while Family Health Centres are open from 9 am morning up to 6 in the evening. PHCs had just one doctor while FCHs are crewed with 3 doctors and larger number of nurses, lab technicians and also include an attenders.
FCHs come with modernized labs, life-style diseases clinic and work-out spaces( yoga wellness centre). The govt will also set up respiratory illness unit for chronic patients and mental wellbeing clinic to relieve depression at FCHS.
