Kochi > All We Imagine As Light, directed by Payal Kapadia, started its debut Indian theatrical running on limited screens in Kerala. The film made history earlier this year by becoming the first Indian film to win the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The Malayalam Title of the movie is Prabhayay Ninachathellam.

The plot of the film revolves around two women from Kerala who come to Mumbai to pursue their dreams in life. Director Payal Kapadia noted that it is particularly fitting for Kerala to be the first State to host the film's theatrical release. She also shared her enthusiasm about the film being available to viewers throughout India.

The film is being released in Kerala by Spirit Media, owned by Rana Daggubati. Expressing pride in bringing the film to audiences throughout India, Daggubati said the film provides a pan-Indian experience with characters speaking multiple languages and hailing from various parts of the country.

All We Imagine As Light is the first Indian film in the past 30 years to participate in the main competition at the Cannes. Payal Kapadia is the first Indian female director to be selected for this prestigious event. All We Imagine As Light is one of the 22 films that competed for the Palme d'Or award alongside renowned filmmakers such as Andrea Arnold, Francis Ford Coppola, Jia Zhangke, Paolo Sorrentino, Sean Baker, and Ali Abbasi.

Following its screening at the Cannes Film Festival, the film has been selected for several other festivals, including the Telluride Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and San Sebastián Film Festival. The film stars Kani Kusruathi, Divyaprabha, Chhaya Kadam, Hridu Haroon and Aziz Nedumangad.
