Thrissur; At the end of UDF fake propaganda campaign, the housing complex in Wadakanchery - a government scheme for the poorest in society - had ground to a halt. The contracting company, Unitech,  in an  e-mail message,  informed Life Mission authorities on Tuesday  that  they are stopping all construction activities  owing to mounting scandals unleashed by MLA Anil Akkara.

The government decided to build flats at Wadakanchery’s  Charalparambu to house dozens of families that lived in leaky shanties and sheds in the district. The construction activities was being carried out by UNITECH - a company contracted by UAE Consulate, as part of aid - and had been progressing at impressive pace.

Then, as it became more and more clear that flats with modern amenities would soon be a reality, Anil Akkara appeared on the horizon with his well-planned conspiracy. Akkara began  by  first linking the flat constructions to gold smuggling case and when that lost steam, he switched to creating baseless corruption allegations. Interestingly,  even while leveling alleging corruption, he shied away from asking for a  probe and instead, turned to Minister AC Moideen and CPI(M) with his imaginary claims of underhandedness.

It was made sufficiently  clear at the very beginning that,  government played no role in actual constructions. Despite this, malicious propaganda continued be spun in conjunction with certain  news channels, where in one instance, the MLA bragged about Minister AC Moideen receiving  Rs 2 core dubiously. Following the outrageous claim, the  minister has sought legal action against Akkara for the slander.

And as allegations - with no backing from his own party - crumbled one by one, Anil Akkara grew desperate to somehow ruin the government’s housing scheme. And he pursued that goal claiming he had incriminating records in support of his allegations. Expectedly, there were no records that came up to make good on his bluff.

Consequential to these fake propaganda events, 140 homeless families are now left in the lurch and also the hospital planned at the site  that would help people in the region, too has been grounded to a halt.

With people’s representative himself blocking public welfare, folks in the area are protesting Akkara’s actions that not only stopped flat constructions but also hampered governmental measures for people’s wellbeing.

Each of the  schemes announced by the MLA ostensibly for the welfare of his  public, never saw light of the day - also the reason why people’s protests,  cutting across parties,  is now escalating.
