Assembly Adjourns Sine Die Following Opposition Ruckus

Thiruvananthapuram : The Assembly on Tuesday adjourned sine die  following Opposition ruckus that played out for seventh day in a row.   The Speaker announced adournment after Chief Minister tabled motion in this regard.  In the resolution, CM urged  that financial requests  for coming days be considered, following which, the House passed the Finance and Appropriation Bills. .

It was  earlier decided to hold special sessions up to 30 March  to discuss the Financial and Appropriation Bills.

The Opposition resorted to unprecedented acts in the name of rejection of adjournment motion. it  laid siege to the Speaker’s office and attempted to stir clashes inside the House. The Opposition conducted a parallel session and called press conference. In an unheard of  style, the Opposition burnt the Speaker’s effigy.

Despite the Speaker’s ruling for order, the Opposition continued to agitate  for the seventh day following which, it was decided to adjourn the House for indefinite period.
