Thiruvananthapuram : The 22nd session of the current Assembly will begin tomorrow with the Governor announcing the state policies, said Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan. The Budget session will be held on 15th. The sessions would be conducted with adherence to covid protocols.
The session will arrive at appropriate decision on Opposition notice seeking Speaker’s removal. Rule 165 renders legal protection for not just MLAs but to Assembly staff as well, said the Speaker. One requires Speaker’s consent to question or arrest an Assembly staff. Consent should hence be sought in keeping with rules, he added.
The probe against Speaker’s private secretary K Ayyapan will not be interrupted. Customs was asked to comply with essential procedures. That’s all.
Nobody is hampering agency investigations. I have no fear whatsoever about any kind of probe. I have been in public arena for 40 years now and am ready to give up public service forever if anyone can cite a single instance of bribery or illegitimate wealth acquisition on involving me, said the Speaker.
Why are the agencies summoning me, is something known only to them. A number of allegations are being leveled against me lately. I do not want to respond however. I have done no wrong and hence fear no agency, the Speaker told media.
