Thiruvananthapyuram : The state is fully equipped to deal with Covid second wave, said Health Minister KK Shailaja. Steps are being taken to ensure adequate hospital facilities, smooth vaccinations, availability of ICUs and assured stock of medical oxygen, said the minister. The government endeavours to provide speedier testing , reduce fatalities, provide treatment facilities and help restore normalcy at an early time for the public, said the minister.
The government has already made arrangements for vaccine supplies. Systems have been upgraded to facilitate higher production of medical oxygen and their wide distribution.
Production level as in April of 2020 stood at 99.39 metric tonnes or 50 litre per minute. In comparison, the stock this month figured at 219 metric tonnes i.e. 1250 litre per minute. 75 tonnes oxygen was used across hospitals on 15th April of last week. There are oxygen generators installed at 8 hospitals while installation of two others are underway, the minister added.
