Thiruvananthapuram : It is highly objectionable to clampdown alternative media that brings to national attention, essential issues the mainstream media choose to ignore, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday. Criticism of Delhi Police action against ”NewsClick” as being part of such crushing attempt, should be viewed seriously, CM added, and demanded that the police course of action should be re-examined.
The Chief Minister was referring to the senseless raids on residences of NewsClick employees and arrest of its founder editor by Delhi Police.
‘It is fascist style to suppress dissenting voices. The country offers media freedom to gather and publish news in free and honest manner. The Central government on its part should do things to ensure that freedom,’ said CM.
