Kalpetta : In a bizzare development, authorities in Karnataka stamped seal on bodies of farmers who arrived there in connection with ginger farming. The incident took place at Bavali checkpost, where two Mananthvadi peasants passed through recently.
Karnataka had imposed 7-day quarantine for anyone reaching its borders and the seal marking is reportedly part of that exercise. The ink used for the seal is similar to that used during polls. The seal is usually stamped on palms of passing traveler at borders. .
Stamping seal on human bodies in this fashion is gross violation of human rights. MLA A.R. Kelu wrote a letter to the Chief Minister on the incident.
