Thiruvananthapuram: CBI is of the view that violinist Balabhaskar’s death was most likely result of an accident. According to CBI, both  the  witness Kalabhavan Sobi and the violinist’s driver, Arjun,  have failed the polygraph test on their  version on events of the fateful night, when Balabhaskar’s car crashed in Kollam in pre-dawn hours while returning from Thrissur, killing him and his only child, and injuring his wife and the car’s driver. Those polygraphed included Balabhaskar’s friend and manager, Vishnu Somasundaram, driver Arjun, Kalabhavan Sobi and Prakash Thambi .

Arjun’s claim that Balabhaskar was driving the car when crash occurred is a lie. And, Rubin Thomas, who according to Kalabhavan Sobhi’s was present at the crash site, was actually found to have been in Banglore at that time. Sobi was un-cooperative during several stages of the polygraph test and later stayed out of it, said CBI.

Balabhaskar’s father, KC Unnikrishnan, had urged CBI probe into the violinist’s death which he suspects might have been a murder for money. Right from the beginning, CBI had doubts over Sobi’s story related to the event.
