Kochi: In the wake of Biju Ramesh’s revelations on license renewal bribes, a Chalakudy native, PL Jacob, filed Public Interest Litigation(PIL) with the High Court seeking CBI probe against Ramesh Chennithala, V Sivakumar and K Babu.
According to Ramesh, a total of Rs 10 crore was raised from across the bar owning community of which, he paid of Rs 1 crore to Chennithala, who was Home Minister at the time, and Rs 50 lakhs to then Excise Minister K Babu and another rs 25 lakhs to Sivakumar. The Congress seniors had demanded hefty amounts if the renewal fee was to be spared from potential hike, Ramesh had said in his televised broadcast.
The PIL also calls for probe by Enforcement Directorate or alternatively a special team headed by state police chief and overseen by court.
