Thiruvananthapuram : Election battle set to spell milestone in state’s history has ended. Counting begins Wednesday 8 am. Postal ballots will be the first to go under counting, followed by ticks recorded on electronic voting machine(EVMs).
Counting for grama panchayats will have concluded. by 11 am and results thereof declared by noon. There are 244 counting centres across the districts of which, 152 centres based on blocks pertain to the 3-tier panchayat votes while counting for 86 municipalities and 6 corporation will take place in the respective institutions itself.
One table per 8 booths would be set up for counting purposes meaning, votes pertaining to any given ward will take place at a single table. Postal and special mail ballots will be processed first. Mail ballots of grama-block panchayats will be counted by govt officials while votes for district panchayat will be overseen by Collector. Ballots will be moved from the strong room depending on table availability. Apart from the electoral agents, an official from the control unit too will be admitted into the counting room.
The Election Commission has also set up ‘Trend Website” to stream counting data Live. Districtwise data covering all village, block and district panchayats together with latest on municipalities and corporation will be available on the website.
The swearing-in ceremony for newly elected members is slated for 21st December.
