Kannur : The epitome of benevolence, who took social media by storm with his with his magnanimous but anonymous charity to CMDRF, has been identified. Janardhanan, resident of Chaladan House in Kuruva is a beedi worker by trade and donated his entire life savings of Rs 2 lakh to Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund(CMDRF) in support of Vaccine Challenge.
Janardhanan said he decided to pay all money he had after watching the Chief Minister’s news briefing. “Partially deaf by birth, I underwent two surgeries at the Govt District Hospital and am able to hear fairly well now with an hearing aid. I also underwent operation for hernia and continue to avail treatment at the government hospital. When the Centre raised prices for vaccine, I felt the need to do something. That’s when I remembered a gratuity sum I had received up on my wife’s death. Next day, I visited the bank and had it all sent to CMDRF,” said Janardhanan.
Janardhanan wished to keep the donation anonymous because he, in general, does not like pomp ans show. An employee at the bank however narrated the big-hearted charity on his Facebook post without mentioning who the donor was. Eventually, media caught wind of it and tracked Janardhanan.
“Only a lover of humanity can become a communist. I am not a cent percent communist. Only someone who has laid his life for the party can be called a cent percent communist. I did not come by that opportunity,” said Janardhanan with a vibrant smile.
