Thiruvananthapuram : Noted writer Benyamin has been named winner of the 45th Vayalar Award for his book “Manthalirile Irupathu Communist Varshangal(മാന്തളിരിലെ ഇരുപത് കമ്യുണിസ്റ്റ്വർഷങ്ങൾ’ക്കാണ്)”.
The award jury comprised KR Meera, Dr. George Onakkor and Dr. C Unnikrishnan. The prize comes with cash of Rs 1 lakh, a sculpture from Kanayi Kunhiraman and a citation. The award will be given away on 27th October at an event slated in Thiruvananthapuram.
Born as Benny Daniel, Benyamin is a native of Pandalam in Pathanamthitta district.Benyamin was earlier recipient of Kerala Sahitya Academy Award in novel category for his book “Aadu Jeevitham(ആടു ജീവിതം)”.
