KOZHIKODE : In a huge disappointment for stranded guest workers from Bihar, four trains scheduled to set off from Kerala today were cancelled, for lack of permission from their state govt. The trains were bound from Kozhikode, Alappuzha and Thrissur.
Authorities in Bihar informed Southern Railways that no trains need be sent today. Rail officials subsequently relayed the information to the District Collectors.
The Bihar govt indicated arrangements back home were presently inadequate to rehabilitate, test or quarantine trainloads of people when they arrive. 1,100 migrant workers were transported by train to Bihar on Sunday.
