Varkala : Congress and BJP workers threaten to kill CPI(M) leaders. Rahul and Rajesh, residing at Rajesh Bhavan in Chemmaruthi Panayara and Abu, all of who have a long history of criminal cases, made death threats to CPI(M) Area Committee member T Radhakrishnan, Palayamkunn Local Secretary GS Sunil, and Branch Secretary Kumar. On the polling day, voters experienced difficulty seeing party signs on the voting machine owing to lack of light at 136 no. booth set up in Parayara Govt LP School.
The party's election secretary brought the matter to attention of the Presiding Officer. Suddenly, the trio barged into the room, shouting abuses at the CPI(M) leader in presence of the voters then grabbed him by neck and pushed him out the room. They then threatened to confront and kill him at his house. Rajesh and Rahul are brothers. CPI(M) leaders approached Varkala DySP for firm action against the culprits.
