Thiruvananthapuram : The probe team has begun questioning BJP State General Secretary M Ganesh in connection with the Kodakkara havala money robbery. Though he initially failed to show up for questioning, police summoned him up by issuing a notice.
Ganesh appeared at Thrissur Police Club Friday morning and according to sources, the State Office Secretary G Girish will be questioned on Saturday. The probe team secured vital tips on involvement of BJP leaders after the RSS worker, Dharmaraj, who drove the car containing havala money, divulged their names during interrogation.
The hotel accommodation in Thrissur for the robbery culprits was booked by BJP’s district leaders. In their interrogation lasting 6 hours on Thursday, the probe officers came up on incriminating info on the several leaders’ involvement in robbery.
The bookings at hotel were made on phone from the BJP District Committee office in Thrissur. In their questioning of hotel employees, the police confirmed there were two rooms booked for the purpose.
19 suspects have been questioned so far in the case and Rs 1.25 crores of the loot seized up to now. However, there is more money stashed away that police hopes to find in coming days. Havala money transported into the state for BJP’s election spend is estimated to be Rs 3.5 crores.
