Nemom, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : BJP loses Nemom’s Kalliyoor panchayat to no-confidence motion passed by the LDF. Though lacking simple majority, BJP governed in largest majority fashion. The 21-member Panchayat comprised BJP - 10 seats, LDF 9 and Congress 2.
LDF Councilor M Somasekaran moved the no-trust motion against Panchayat President Chandhu Krishna. It was passed in a 11:9 majority. BJP member Sudharma and Congress member Santimati voted in favour of the Motion.
The Motion against Chandhu Krishna was tabled late afternoon. The LDF alleged Kalliyoor panchayat was ridden with corruption under the current governance.
People were appointed to posts of driver, data entry operator and temporary hospital workers without any kind of test of test or interview. Also, instead of conserving the Vellayani backwaters with its rich biodiversity, underhand deals were transacted to make way for illegal constructions. The LDF cited the ongoing nepotism and corruption while presenting the Motion.
