BJP Workers Get 11-year Jail Sentence For Attack on CPI(M) Workers in Kunnamkulam

Kunnamkulam: The court on Friday sentenced 5 BJP workers to a 11-year and 9-month jail term and fine for hacking CPI(M) workers and wounding them in Kunnamkulam.  Those convicted are : Anjoor native Kodathur Sandeep; Mundathara Abhilash; Mandakathikal Jibit; Kottamkalathil Naushad and  Thalekkara Kartik(Bineesh). Justice TD Baiju delivered the judgment at Chavakkad Addl. Sessions Court yesterday.

The incident dates back to 5th Dec, 2015.  On that night around 9 pm, CPI(M) workers were returning home after attending a wedding at Annjoor when the BJP-RSS gang ambushed and attacked them over political vengeance. Those wounded in the attack were: Anjoor natives Azhthoorpurkal Abhilash, Mandkathinkal Raju, Ezhuthupurakkal Anandu,;Oadattil Sinil; Marathakkara Rajeev and Munnini Gopakumar.

The court also ordered the culprits to pay Rs 57,000 to Mandakathinkal Rajeev who suffered serious injuries to his head. Public prosecutor Adv VS Mohandas appeared for the state.
