Kattakada:  Fiery abuses and bottle-hurling marked Congress’s  assessment meeting on election defeat in Aruvikkara following which,  KPCC leaders and MLA  to flee in their cars to escape party men's fury.

The drama took place  Saturday evening at Firdoz auditorium.  There,  Congress Aruvivkkara Block Committee began their meeting at 4 pm,  called by KPCC General Secretary ,Punalur Madhu.  The meeting was attended by Congress office bearers from Puvachal, Kuttichal, Vellanad and Aruvikkara.

There was a prior understanding on disallowing District Panchayat member Vellanad Sasi and Congress Vellanad Mandalam president Vellanad Satyadas  from attending the meeting. Both men had distributed notices asking people to vote for rebel candidates in 9 wards and Congress leader Kamal Rajeev at Block division, during the elections.  However, as meeting began,  both Vellanad Sasi and Satyadas walked into the hall.

Block president CR Udaykumar, who presided over the event,  rose  and objected to their arrival. However Sasi and Satyadas  refused to budge saying,   a meeting excluding them need not be conducted. Then,  KS Sabarinath and other leaders on the dais voiced their support for the two and asked for allowing them to participate. That snapped many and several leaders in the audience quickly turned fiercly against Sabarinath. Arguments  heated up escalating to verbal abuses and leaders hurled water bottles at one another. Several leaders were struck by the flying bottles and KPCC Generala Secretary .Punalur  Madhu, soon dismissed the meeting.
Meetings may be held , if so desired,  at panchayat levels, he added. Following the announcement, Sabarinath and KPCC leaders hurried out and made quick getaway in their waiting cars.

A meeting was later held at Congress office in Uzhmalakkal attended by leaders from panchayats of Aryanad, Uzhmalakkal, Vithura and Tholikode. There, most of all,  Sabarinath’s stance came and under heavy criticism from the leaders.
