Kochi : The High Court on Tuesday  asked Pollution Control Board to state remedial measures in connection with Brahmapuram fire by tomorrow. The Court also directed the the Chairman of the Board  and District Collector to be present in the court personally tomorrow. The issue  is scheduled to be taken up  at 1.45 pm Wednesday noon.

The court asked the Pollution Control Board what steps were taken to control pollution in the aftermath of the fire. The Pollution Control Board did do what was necessary. It was suffocating outside  on Saturday, the court said.

The court warned there would be disciplinary action if there was no satisfactory reply. Was the fire made-made?, the court asked.  Garbage disposal in Kochi must be made safe before 6th of June, the court directed. Whatever happened now should not repeat itself; dumping of garbage into lake must come to a stop it added.

The High Court expressed displeasure over Collector’s non-attendance in court  and asked the Kochi Corporation Secretary too to appear before it tomorrow.  The govt said it will form a high-level committee to investigate the fire. The committee will include Add. Chief Secretary, PCB Chairman and Fire Safety experts, it added.
