Budget Session Begins in Parliament; Union Budget Tomorrow

New Delhi : Budget session of the Parliament has begun with announcement of policy decisions in the initial proceedings. The pre-budget Economic Survey conducted to gauge state of  country’s economy,   will get tabled in the Parliament today after President’s address to both Houses. The Finance Minister will present   Union  Budget tomorrow.

One of the anxiously awaited data in the pre-Budget Economic Survey, authored by a team lead by Chief Economic Advisar(CEA), is the estimate of gross Domestic product(GDP) for the next financial year starting 1 April. The previous economic survey was presented in the midst of Covid pandemic. However, with  high-frequency indicators like GST collections and corporate profitability  are pointing toward an upward movement this time.

The Budget session comes amid side Covid surge and election in five states including all-important Uttar Pradesh. With poll campaign in full swing the first leg of Budget session will last only 10 days, ending  11 Feb. The second phase will begin on 14 March and conclude on the 8th of April.

Meanwhile, the Opposition is on full gear to take on the government over burning issues including  Pegasus and farmers's woes.
