Buffer Zone: Map Being Submitted To The Centre Shall Be Published

Thiruvananthapruam : With regard to the eco-sensitive zones, the high-level meeting held in the capital today decided that the proposed map the state govt submits  to the Centre for approval purposes shall be published. If there be need to add more details to the map, the govt will facilitate opportunity for such submission.  These additional details may be submitted directly to the Forest Department. The deadline for submitting such details is 7th of  January.

To verify such additional details at ground level, a team comprising experts from Revenue, Forest and Local Body departments shall be appointed at Panchayat level. It is also being considered to gather inputs from public by setting up committee spanning  all sections of people and people’s representatives as well.  Meanwhile, the government will plea with the Supreme Court seeking more time for submitting information.

An online meeting is being convened tomorrow of Presidents, Secretaries, Village Officers and Thehsildars across 87 panchayats, officials and ministers of the Revenue, Forest and Local Self=government departments. Details regarding conduct of field level verification will be decided at this meeting.
