Thodupuzha : The industrial environment in State has vastly improved and unity of people is growingly noticed, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan,  at inaugural of first phase KINFRA Spices Park at Idukki’s Mutta. Our State is small sized however its quantum exports is catching attention. The Spices Park will help boost spice cultivation and value-added products in a big way, said CM.

The 1st phase of Spices Park -  sprawled on 15.29 acre land in Mutta -  was completed at cost of Rs 20 crores. The development works took off in October of 2021 and  completed in  August 2023. All industrial plots constructed in the 1st phase of Spices Park have been allotted to entrepreneurs for their products ranging from spice ointments, cages,  curry powders, curry masalas, whole spices,  and spice powders. Basic amenities like water supply, electricity, road, drainage, waste disposal plant, rainwater tanks etc are provided for at the park.

Development works of 2nd phase  have started on vacant portion of the land. Spices Park is looking to procure  and market the best quality spices of Idukki - the homeland of spices. The project will pave way for the district’s development by leaps and bounds.

CM subtly criticised the UDF for keeping away from the function. ‘Although unity of our land is notable, it is unfortunate that some stay out of it,” said CM. The Idukki MP Dean Kuriakos and Thodupuzha MLA PJ Joseph did not attend the event.

Industries Minister P Rajeev presided over the function. Water Resources Minister Roshy Augustine was the chief guest. All industrial plots constructed in first phase have been allotted to entrepreneurs. Businesses are allocated land with infrastructure for industrial needs,  like road access, clean water and electricity, for a 30-year period. KINFRA Spices Park is slated to be big boost to spice production and for value-added product businesses for Idukki.
