Palakkad : LDF candidate PM Ali won Palakkad District Panchayat Alathur Division in a 7794-vote lead, defeating closest rival M Sahad of UDF.
40,014 votes were cast, the breakup of which is : PM Ali - 22,099, M Sahahd (UDF) - 14,305; V Bavadasan(BJP) 3274 and Rajesha Alathur(Independent) 336.
The seat fell vacant on demise of LDF incumbent KV Sreedharan.
