Cannot Issue Directions For Implementing Hema Commission Report : HC

Kochi : The High Court on Tuesday said it cannot direct the government to  implement the Hema Commission Report. The ruling was pronounced by Division Bench headed by the Chief Justice. The government submitted to court there 258 Nodal Officers  appointed to deal with molestation cases.

Committee has been appointed in each of 14 districts to attend complaints of sexual harassment in workplaces, said State Attorney N Manoj Kumar appearing for the government.

The Bench was hearing plea submitted by a NGO “Disha” seeking to implement recommendations of Hema Commission appointed to study sexual harassment faced by women in film industry.

On petitioner’s accusation of wages in film industry not toeing in line with Service Regulation Act, the High Court has sought report from the Central govt in the regard.
