Car Fire In Mavelikkara Appears Dubious; No Technical Fault To Vehicle

Mavelikara  In the Mavelikkara incident, where a youth was charred to death after his car caught fire and exploded in  loud blast, the Motor Vehicle Dept determined there is no technical fault with the vehicle. The preliminary inspection findings were informed by Joint RTO MG Manoj. No fault with the fuse unit or battery terminal, the officer said, adding that the reason for fire remains unclear.

The deceased was strapped with seat belt  and hand brake appeared pulled. The police found a bronchitis inhaler and cigarette lighter among the debris. Locals at the scene said there was strong scent  of petrol after the fire, though anything to this effect  remains to be verified. Police haven’t ruled out the possibility of e-cigarette.

The car’s engine was found in perfect condition and  fire appears to have started from under the driver’s seat. The mobile phone was completely charred. The police will examine CCTVs in the area and run through the deceased Krishnaraj’s phone records to unravel more.

The scene was scoured by forensics team from Alappuzha comprising Scientific Officer Dr. Chinchu, fingerprint expert Appukuttan, fingerprint technician Niisha and police photographer Chandradas.

Police await forensic results to  determine what caused the deadly fire.

The Blaze : A little after midnight on Monday, Krishnaraj(35) was charred to death when his car caught fire as it entered the front yard of his rented home. There was blast with deafening sound during the fire. Krishnaraj lived with his brother and ran a computer institute name ICare close by.
