Thiruvananthapuram : Case has been filed against persons guilty of blocking and attacking police at Kochi Corporation as cops attempted to pave way for the Mayor who had been mobbed by protesters, the Chief Minister told Assembly , in reply to submission by PV Sreeninjan. The injured policemen are being treated at the hospital. Investigations into the incident has been stepped up, said CM.
Based on decision at high-level meeting on Brahmapuram issue, attended by Minister of Local Bodies, Minister of Industries and the Opposition Leader, an Emergency Council Meeting had been convened on 13th March.
In the wake of recent incidents in surroundings of Kochi Corporation, adequate security arrangements had been made overseen by Asst. Commissioner of Police. As Mayor arrived at the Corporation for the meeting, protesters mobbed him and attacked 4 police personnel including a Sub Inspector, as the cops tried to make way for the Mayor into the Council hall.
The case is registered under sections 143, 147, 149, 32 and 353 of IPC with the Ernakulam Central Police Station. The crime no. is 867/2023, the Chief Minister told the House.
