Thiruvananthapuram : Although the Prime Minister and Aviation Minister were written to several times seeking that operations of Thiruvananthapuram airport be granted to the state government, there has been no favourable response on their side so far, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in the Assembly.
The centre should withdraw its decision to give away airport functions to Adani and upkeep its assurance to the state, said CM voicing the demand in the House on Wednesday. Congress is openly justifying centre on its stand on privatising the airport, CM said.
The state government made sincere interventions in the matter. There are the likes of Shasi Tharoor to defend centre’s decision , but why should Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan echo that view?, asked CM.
When Centre adopts wrong kind of policies, the Opposition is obliged to object, said CM. A moral government would wait for the court verdict before going ahead with related proceedings, said CM.
Everybody knows who objected to development of Karipur airport; It is when arguments over airport expansion escalated that, there rose the problem relating to owners unwilling to part with their lands, CM reminded.
