Kochi :: It was a slew of dismissals on Friday for petitions relating to the case where Beedi tycoon Mohamad Nisham killed the security staff of Shobhacity in Thrissur by plowing his Hummer onto him.
At the outset, the High Court rejected the culprit’s plea seeking to repeal his life sentence handed by Thrissur Additional Sessions Court. In the second, the court also rejected government’s plea seeking capital punishment for Nisham saying the murder was rarest of rare. The court turned down govt appeal saying it did not wish to interfere with lower court standpoint. The court also rejected plea from the luxury car owner, seeking for release of the vehicle that was used in the killing.
Chandrabose, a security at residential complex of Shobhacity, was killed on January 29 of 2015. On that day, Nisham arrived riding Hummer at 3.15 am dawn and honked repeatedly for the security to open the gate. There happened some delay and an infuriated Nizam dragged Chandrabose into the parking lot where he ran him over
