New Delhi : More states come to the fore opposing Centre’s unilateral move to effect changes to IAS, IPS cadre deputation rules.
Apart from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal, governments in Jharkhand, Odisha, Rajasthan, Chathisgarh too have expressed dissent in the matter. Incidentally NDA-ruled states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh etc too are opposed to the change. The new amendment allows the central government to IAS, IPS and Indian Forest Service(IFS) cadre personnel as per its wish without consent of state.
In its letter on 12 Jan to the states, the Centre indicated changes to deputation rules for only IAS cadre. However, in the letter 17th issued by the Union Personnel Ministry, it said there were similar changes intended for IPS and IFS cadre too. The letter asked states to put in their response on the topic.
